Research Summary

Our group has established a system for expressing and purifying human recombinant tubulin, which could not be achieved in any laboratory in the world. This technology is currently being used in a wide range of fields, including medicine and drug discovery.

Using this technique and non-equilibrium statistical physics, I aim to elucidate the mechanism of microtubule polymerization. The dynamics of microtubule polymerization is closely related to neural development and the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases; therefore, the clarification of the molecular mechanism will contribute to our understanding of the various phenomena observed in neurons.
